Asus has updated its GPU Tweak III video card management software, supporting NVIDIA’s new RTX 50 series. Update also brings new features to the program that may be useful to plates of all generations, including AMD models.
Update takes the tweak III GPU to its version 1.8.7.3. Along with the RTX 50 support, the update also allows the app to recognize four -faced video cards, something that has begun to appear in some custom plates in the Nvidia Blackwell series. This is the case of ASUS’s new astral models, for example.
Among the news, a feature that draws attention is a new detector for the power connector. According to Asus, after the update the Tweak III GPU will be able to warn the user if the energy signal seems strange for any reason. This may be indicative of poorly fitted connectors, something that was already quite problematic in the debut of 16 -pin connections.

Nvidia ensures that connectors on its RTX 50 boards will not melt as it happened in the first RTX 40, but certainly an extra security layer is welcome.
GPU Update Tweak III recalls absence of hot spot on RTX 50
Another novelty of the ASUS software update is a Thermal Map, which can be translated as a “thermal map”. The feature shows temperatures on all plate modules and vms in a unified format to facilitate user visualization.
The arrival of a temperature mapping feature along with RTX 50 support is a reminder that Nvidia has removed the hot spot sensor on its latest video cards.

The change was made without announcement, so we do not have an official justification for the absence of the sensor. It was just something reviewers realized on RTX 5090 when diagnostic software showed unrealistic temperatures for the hot spot of these models.
