Deepseek will probably remain the big subject of the week for the AI segment. After bringing credits for dropping the shares of large technology companies, now China’s company returns to the news for the hardware it is using for inference in its R1 model. Apparently, the company is using ASPE 910C chips from its countryman Huawei.
The information comes from Alexander Doria, expert in Large Language Model Technology (LLM). He states that DeepSeek would have used Nvidia H800 chips to train its AI R1 model, but now the inference is computed by Huawei Ascend 910C plates. Doria also adds the comment that this should be more in evidence.
Huawei states that its ASCEND 910C accelerator would be able to rival Nvidia’s H100. GPU’s large -scale production would be estimated for the first quarter of 2025, which indicates early access to the plates for DeepSek staff.
While the Chinese company admits that it trained its Nvidia hardware model, using domestic GPUs for its inference should greatly reduce the costs to offer the service. In addition, it is another point for the autonomy that China tries to promote while facing increasing US commercial sanctions and its allies.
Deepseek success generates questions
There are controversies about the development of AI that “arrived out of nowhere” and shook the international technology market. While DeepSeek says it has developed its model with an investment less than $ 6 million using limited resources, many Western experts question these statements.

Company critics say the reported cost should not refer to the total price of training and technology creation, but only how much its final model costs, ready. In addition, there are speculation that the company has thousands of Nvidia H100 signs, something that will never be officially confirmed because these GPUs cannot be legally exported to China.
However, the most critics still agree that Deepseek has probably been able to create and offer its technology with much smaller investment than the competitors it can face today. And that is what has shaken the financial market.
