A Modder went to Github to show his latest creation, Steam Brick. This is a reduced version of Steam Deck, won when removing the screen and controls from the Valve laptop. The result is so minimalist that it includes a single USB connection and the device on the device.
Steam Deck enthusiasts may find the idea absurd. It is noteworthy that neither drum the brick maintains. The author of the project, Crastinator-PRO, acknowledges that it is an unusual idea and writes in a humorous way about it. However, he justifies that the idea was born of its practical use of the laptop.
According to Modder, Steam Deck took up a lot of space in his backpack, and he never felt compelled to play during his flights, citing the difficulty of reaching handheld in the middle of the luggage. Arriving at his destination, he always used the deck connected to a TV or his air glasses anyway, so he began to think of a way to make the device more consistent with his style of use.
Quoting Jurassic Park, Crastinator-Pro says, “I was so worried about whether I could, I didn’t stop to wonder if I should.”
Steam deck brick model is much smaller
With so many sacrifices, Steam Brick was certainly smaller than Steam Deck. Castinator-Pro says its modified version of the Valve laptop has a third the size of the original model. Not only that, but it would also be 24% lighter.
Project details can be seen at Github, which has practically one step by step of the deck transformation process. Much of the reduction engineering of internal components requires only common tools and courage, but for the case a 3D printer required.
