Okay, the title certainly catches your attention: Brazilian modders work on RTX 5090 with 32 Gbps DDR7 and 2TB/s bandwidth. Be very calm at this time, as no one has yet got hold of an RTX 50 – unfortunately –, especially to apply modifications to it. But let’s take it easy.

The Paulo Gomes channel, on the YouTubeis dedicated to making modifications to GPUs, as well as repairs, recoveries and customizations. The guys are mad! And the next adventure will be exactly the modification of an RTX 5090 by applying more memory to it, increasing from 28 Gbps to 32 Gbps.

Working with modifications is not for everyone, requiring dedication, a lot of study, trial, error and success. And when we’re talking about the next line of graphics cards from NVIDIAan error can have a very high cost, especially in relation to an RTX 5090. We have already listed here what the values of the next generation of NVIDIA GPUs will be.

I highlight the points above to highlight the expertise required to carry out these changes. So kids, don’t do this at home! However, the Brazilian duo from the Paulo Gomes channel seem to have extensive experience as modders, so the feat they intend to accomplish could just be another quiet Tuesday at work.

In the video below, lasting almost 20 minutes, they talk a little about their trajectory – they even mention Adrenaline 😉 -, and go into the subject of a possible modification that can increase the memory of the RTX 5090 from 28 Gbps to 32 Gbps, which which would also increase its bandwidth to an unprecedented 2TB/s. But all of this would come at a very high cost, removing the memories from TWO RTX 5080s and placing them in the RTX 5090. Check out the video:

Taking into account that the value of the RTX 5090 in Brazil will be R$19,999 and the RTX 5080 will cost R$9,999, we are talking about a joke of R$40 thousand.

Swapping memory between the cards would be an interesting modification, as the RTX 50 cards will launch with new GDDR7 memory, which allows for faster speeds and bandwidth. The RTX 5090 will be NVIDIA’s first 512-bit card in years, unlocking 70% more bandwidth (over 1.7 TB/s) over its predecessor, the RTX 4090.

The RTX 5080 is part of this whole game as it is the only model in the next generation with 32 Gbps GDDR7 modules – at least so far. With these modules on the market, other mods will be possible in the RTX 50 line, but certainly the most interesting – and expensive – would be the application of the 5080 memory modules in the 5090.

In the video they prove their theory and explain how they would go about making this change. And here is my recommendation, if you are interested in modifying video cards, to follow their channel, which has a lot of content with background on the subject.
