AMD launches Ryzen 5 7400F globally: 6 cores, up to 4.7 GHz and 65W

AMD launched this week a new input option for desktop PCs with a Raphael Die AM5 socket. The Ryzen 5 7400F appeared without fanfare on the company’s website, offering 6 cores with 12 threads and a clock speed of 3.7GHz, reaching up to 4.7GHz in boost. According to the official listing, the processor’s TDP is 65W.

The Ryzen 5 7400F appears to be a downclocked version of the 7500F, to bring even more competitive prices. The new CPU also has the same 32MB L3 cache. One other interesting difference, however, is that the new, more affordable option appears to have a global launch.

Although it can be found in third-party stores in other countries, the Ryzen 5 7500F was officially announced only for China. The Ryzen 5 7400F, in turn, will have official availability in different markets where AMD operates around the world. The company, however, has not yet discussed prices for the new product.

This is the second “silent” launch for an entry-level product that AMD has made this month. In early January, the company also introduced the Ryzen 5 9600, as its new, more affordable option in the Ryzen 9000 series.

Ryzen 5 7400F arrives as a new affordable option

AMD shows that its previous generation AM5 platform continues to receive releases, even with the introduction of a new socket. The Ryzen 5 7400F isn’t the only new processor to appear recently for the company’s Ryzen 7000 series of CPUs.

Between August and September last year, the company also introduced the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, in an interesting positioning. While this processor is not an entry-level option across the entire Ryzen 7000 portfolio, compared only between models with 3D V-Cache, it is the most affordable new option.

Since AMD appears to be seeking an attractive value for the Ryzen 5 7400F, expectations are now on revealing the product’s price.
