A Atari ea PLAION announced last Friday (29) that the Atari 7800+ is now available for purchase.
After a pre-sale period, the new version of the Atari console is being sent to customers who purchased it in the first phase and also makes purchases available to consumers around the world – including Brazil. The faithful recreation of the 1986 Atari home console is available worldwide for $129.99.
Atari 7800+ available for purchase
The new version of the Atari 7800+ uses HDMI to connect to current TVs and devices and plays games from the new and original 2600 and 7800 models, with near-universal compatibility with original and third-party cartridges. Each console ships with the CX78+ Wireless Gamepad and a Bentley Bear Crystal Quest 7800 game cartridge.

The consoles shipped will be accompanied by the CX78+ Wireless Gamepad ($34.99 / €34.99 / £29.99), but there is also the option to purchase the CX40+ Wireless Joystick model separately ($34.99 / €34.99 / £ 29.99). Both controllers are wireless and connect wirelessly to the new 7800+ and 2600+ consoles, and work with original 2600 and 7800 hardware using an included DB9 wireless adapter. You can even connect it to a PC with the USB-C adapter, which is also included.
To complement the launch of the new Atari 7800+, we have ten new game cartridges, including official Atari releases for popular games and three 2600+ multi-game cartridges. Each new game includes a full-color printed user manual and will be available at retail for $29.99 (€29.99 / £24.99), check it out:
- The 7800+ version of Asteroids Deluxe expands on the original with new mechanics and intense two-player modes that introduce competition and varied playstyles;
- Bounty Bob Strikes Back is a sequel to the cult classic Miner 2049er. For this port for a 7800+ cartridge, developer Robert DeCrescenzo added 10 new caves;
- In the 7800+ game Bentley Bear’s Crystal Quest, a popular homegrown sequel to Crystal Castles, you’ll find everything a platformer fan could want… including an adorable bear;
- A new version of Berzerk brings the gameplay of the arcade classic to the 7800+. Evil Otto’s sinister smile definitely included!
- Load up your Phase Pistol and join the fray in Frenzy, an Atari 7800+ port of the Berzerk arcade sequel!
- Space Duel is the first 7800 port of the original 1982 vector-based arcade game. Exclusive two-player mode connects two spaceships for interdependent action;
- A 2600+ release of Caverns of Mars brings the Atari 8-bit classic to the cartridge for the first time. Homebrew developer John W. Champeau’s adaptation adds new challenges to the original and a save feature;
- The Epyx Game Collection combines the best EPYX sports games on one 2600+ cartridge. Up to eight players can compete in various events at the Summer Games, Winter Games and California Games, which introduced Pacific Coast sports including half-pipe, footbag, surfing, skating, BMX and flying disc;
- AM Network Collection combines the fast-paced action of Armor Ambush, Astroblast, Frogs and Flies, and Star Strike into a single 2600+ cartridge. These four titles were adaptations of popular Intellivision games created for the Atari 2600 by Mattel Electronics;
- In 1982, Atari responded to competition from rival Intellivision by releasing a new series of sports games, including RealSports Baseball, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, and Boxing. With the new RealSports Collection, they are available for the first time on a single 2600+ cartridge, including the never-before-released RealSports Basketball.
The Atari 7800+ is available for purchase on the official Atari website (link in source) for US$ 129.99 and is available for delivery to Brazil.
