AMD released a new version of its driver aimed at creators and professionals this week. AMD Software PRO Edition 24.Q4 brings optimizations and improves compatibility for applications aimed at creation and productivity, such as DaVinci Resolve, Ansys, etc.
Check out the fixes for AMD’s new professional driver below, according to the company itself:
- Autodesk Fusion 360 intermittent crash while installing AMD Software PRO Edition.
- Intermittent DaVinci Resolve crash after importing media into a timeline with RivaTuner Statistics Server running in the background.
- Failed to render models using the Leica Cyclone 3DR Viewer.
- Failure can be observed in Ansys when running the sRGB Gamma Correction test.

It is important to highlight that this type of AMD driver is really aimed at professionals. Therefore, it is not officially compatible with mainstream consumer GPUs from the Radeon line for games, but rather with Pro models of video cards. Like the Radeon Pro W7800, for example.
On the software side, the driver supports Windows 10 and 11, in addition to Windows Server 2019 and 2022. However, this is the last version of it compatible with the 2019 version of Windows Server, highlights the company.
In its list of highlights for the new version of its driver for professionals, AMD mentions the end of support for Windows Server 2019.
“Support for Microsoft Windows Server 2019 will be discontinued after this release. We recommend that users upgrade to Microsoft Windows Server 2022 to continue receiving PRO Edition Software updates.”

Unlike gaming GPU drivers, however, which receive constant updates following new releases, Software PRO Edition takes longer with each update. This way, users will have more time to migrate their systems before worrying about a possible new incompatible version of the driver.
