STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl hit the market as an extremely demanding game in terms of hardware, testing both the CPU and GPU to the limit. The game is so intense that even the powerful AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D struggles to maintain high frame rates at lower resolutions like 1080p.
A new benchmark shared by the Compusemble YouTube channel demonstrates the processing demand of GSC Game World’s second title, especially on the CPU side.
In two extremely intensive scenarios, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D struggled to maintain an average of 100 FPS at 1080p. When increasing the resolution to 4K, the challenge becomes even greater, with the CPU struggling to sustain 60 FPS consistently.
Fans buy, but performance issues still concern
Despite concerns about performance on PCs and consoles, this didn’t stop STALKER 2 from reaching an impressive milestone: 1 million units sold within days of release.
The game remained faithful to the proposal of its predecessor and captivated fans of the series. However, the experience is not for all players, as several reviews have highlighted.
For many, STALKER 2 is a game that knows exactly what it wants to be, without worrying about being completely balanced all the time. The feeling of being a lone survivor in an inhospitable world is constant and striking, for better or for worse.
However, the recommendation is that unless you’re eager to dive into the Zone right away, it might be best to wait a bit while the developers (and modders) tweak and improve the experience.
After all, whoever has waited until now won’t mind waiting a little longer.
