This week, d-Matrix announced its new AI accelerator card, the Corsair. Despite having the same name as a famous brand of home PC products, d-Matrix’s Corsair has nothing to do with it. The component is aimed at professional use and accelerates inference without using a GPU.
Anyone who follows news about AI knows that GPUs have been the main solution for large companies to process technology. That’s why NVIDIA has been a big beneficiary of the boom in popularity in generative AI.
Instead of competing directly with NVIDIA in an area where the company is an expert, d-Matrix decided to take another path to take advantage of the popularity of AI. So Corsair uses a technology called DIMC to accelerate artificial intelligence inference workloads.
DIMC is an acronym for Digital In-Memory Compute, something that can be translated as Digital Computing in Memory. d-Matrix claims that the solution offers industry-leading performance, while offering greater energy efficiency and savings when compared to GPUs.

d-Matrix Corsair uses DMX Bridge to connect pairs
According to the manufacturer, each Corsair card connects via the PCIe 5.0 interface to offer up to 2,400 TFLOPS, with an 8-bit computing peak. They use 2GB of integrated “performance memory” and up to 256GB of capacity memory. Additionally, the boards can be connected in pairs, using a DMX Bridge to connect the units.
Without offering many details about its comparison, the d-Matrix promises up to ten times the speed of interaction with the Corsair. They are up to three times more energy efficient and also three times better total cost of ownership (TCO). According to the manufacturer, the card delivers 150TB/s of memory bandwidth, much more than the HBM.
