Cooler Master launches its 2,000W power supply with two 12V-2×6 connectors for GPUs

Cooler Master officially launched its new 2,000W X Mighty Platinum power supply this week. The component has enough capacity to hold two modern GPUs at the same time and, therefore, has two 12V-2×6 connectors.

Since SLI has fallen out of favor and with the ever-increasing power needs of modern graphics cards, the dual-GPU configuration for gaming has become quite unusual. However, X Mighty Platinum does not necessarily target gamers.

Machines focused on rendering and workstations for different functions can also make use of two GPUs. Additionally, more modern applications such as generative AI and large language model (LLM) training may also be attractive for Cooler Master’s 2,000W power supply.

It is worth mentioning that the X Mighty Platinum line was presented at CES 2024 – that is, in January. The 2,000W model appeared alongside an even “stockier” version, a 2,800W PSU that can connect up to four RTX 4090 at the same time. Now, this slightly smaller version has made its debut in different markets.

Cooler Master X Mighty Platinum costs more than R$2,800

Interestingly, the United States is not the first country in which Cooler Master’s new power supply makes its debut. The product first arrives in stores in China, South Korea and Australia.

The prices are respectively 3,600 yuan, 702,000 won and 749 Australian dollars. Converting to the current price, these are values ​​slightly above R$2,800.
