AMD has finally officially announced the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, its first Zen 5 processor with 3D V-Cache technology. The manufacturer released details of the component, including explaining the difference in the second generation of 3D V-Cache.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has its 64MB cache moved to the bottom of the processor, leaving the chiplets (CCD) closer to the cooling system. This way, the heat dissipation of the Zen 5 cores becomes more effective, allowing for higher clock rates.
AMD says this allowed an average 8% gain in gaming performance compared to the last generation. Not only that, the company says that the new CPU is up to “20% faster than the competition” – in this case, an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K.
Check out the highlighted specifications for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D below:
- 8 cores Zen 5 and 16 threads
- Clocks: 4,7GHz base | até 5,2GHz boost
- Cache total: 104MB
- TDP: 120W
- Price: US$479 (R$2,771)
It is worth mentioning that the value is somewhat different from some leaks we had a few weeks ago. The closest number was $484, which appeared in an early listing on Tech-America.
As previously announced, the first Ryzen 9000 X3D hits stores on November 7th. It is also worth mentioning that this is the very first X3D processor fully unlocked for overclocking.
*UPDATE: AMD did not show it in its official release, but its promotional video reveals comparative performance tables for its new CPU. Below, a comparison of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D with the previous generation in several games:

AMD confirma overclock completo no Ryzen 7 9800X3D
The overclocking options for the new AMD CPU with 3D V-Cache were one of the first leaks we had about the product, back in early July this year. Now, with its official launch, AMD confirms that users will be able to change the processor voltage at will – within the safety limiters in the official configuration.
The manufacturer has not yet released official numbers on the OC potential for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but it spoke of concrete performance gains in at least two games.

Several representatives of games such as COD, Space Marine 2 and Frostpunk 2 spoke about the advantages of the new processor. AMD itself highlights that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D delivered its 8% gain in performance in Star Wars Oultaws, compared to the previous generation. Additionally, in The Last of Us Part 1, the CPU has an average frame rate “similar to the competition” but rates up to 31% better in the low 1%.
