Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence arrives as the main new feature of iOS 18.1, designed to help users with various daily tasks.

Among its capabilities is the ability to produce, review and summarize texts in applications such as Mail, Notes and Pages. This functionality allows, for example, the user to instruct artificial intelligence to compose emails in formal or informal tones, facilitating communication.

Additionally, Apple Intelligence improves image search in the Photos app. Users can easily locate specific images by describing characteristics such as “photos of a gray car.”

Another interesting function is Clean Up, which allows you to easily remove unwanted elements from images. Artificial intelligence can also be used to create creative “memories” by selecting photos and videos to put together presentations based on the descriptions provided.

Siri expansion and new features

The iOS 18.1 update isn’t just limited to Apple Intelligence. Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, has also been improved, gaining the ability to perform more advanced tasks. Among the new features is the ability to quickly add new contacts to the calendar, in addition to transcribing or summarizing audio efficiently.

Another notable feature is the system’s ability to only display important notifications when Focus mode is enabled. This function is especially useful for users who want to minimize distractions and optimize their time while working or studying.

In addition to the new features in artificial intelligence, iOS 18.1 brings adjustments and functional additions that could not be implemented in the iOS 18 version. The Control Center now offers more customization options and buttons for different functions. Another new feature is the phone call recording function, where the recording icon appears in the top right corner during calls.

iPhone Mirroring mode has also been introduced, allowing you to quickly transfer files between your device and a Mac running macOS Sequoia 15.1 or higher. For photography enthusiasts, Camera Control on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro lines now includes a selfie mode.

Availability and compatibility

iOS 18.1 is available for Lines iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 e iPhone 16 Pro. However, at this early stage, support for Apple Intelligence is limited to the English language, with expansion expected to reach Portuguese and other languages ​​in 2025. This initial release serves as a test to improve the technology before its global rollout in iOS 18.4 .

Installing iOS 18.1 can be done directly on the iPhone, which notifies the user about the update.
