AMD made available this week the Ryzen chipset driver version 6.10.17.152, which updates the manufacturer’s entire most current line of motherboards, with AM4 and AM5 sockets. This includes the latest X870 and X870E models, optimized for the Ryzen 9000 series of processors.
There aren’t many new features in the update. AMD highlights just three highlights:
- New program support added
- CETCOMPACT support added for some drivers in Windows 11
- Bug fixes
Like every driver update, the latest 6.10.17.152 has its known issues as well. According to AMD, users may encounter the following flaws:
- Some driver names on a non-English OS may appear in English.
- The uninstall summary may incorrectly show the uninstall status as “failed”.
- Occasionally Ryzen PPKG may fail to install or update.
AMD emphasizes that Windows installs a generic driver package to recognize basic functions of a motherboard, but that this type of update is important to take advantage of all the features of your product. Especially newer models like the X870 and X870E, with the manufacturer promising better stability and efficiency with an updated driver. The download link is available on the official AMD page.
AMD X870 and X870E cards are now available
The AM5 boards with the X870 and X870E chipsets for Ryzen 9000 make a lot of promises to bring out the best that the Zen 5 generation of CPUs has to offer. These models made their debut at the end of September and are already appearing in stores.
