AMD promotion cuts prices across the entire Ryzen 9000 line

AMD has announced a new “early holiday” promotion for the entire Ryzen 9000 line of processors. Starting October 20 (yesterday), each CPU in AMD’s current Zen 5 family of PCs is discounted by $30 to $50, depending on the model.

The announcement comes on the heels of confirming the release date of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. AMD did not call the processor by name, but confirmed that its new generation 3D V-Cache (X3D) will debut on November 7th. Along with the announcement, the company revealed the image below:

The new prices already appear on Amazon in the USA (links in the list below). However, in some cases, the price charged by the store is already lower than the reduction offered by AMD. With the value reductions, the official prices of the products look like this:

As the links show, some processor models already appear for lower prices than AMD’s discount. It could be a case of retailers getting ahead of the discount or it could be that the official cuts result in even more affordable prices in the coming weeks.

AMD struggles to put Ryzen in front of Intel Core Ultra 200

The “lukewarm” launch of the Ryzen 9000 processors would have left AMD especially concerned about the arrival of the Intel Core Ultra 200 series, also known as Arrow Lake-S. Therefore, it may not be a coincidence that the company decided to run an “early vacation” promotion precisely during the launch week of its rival’s products.

Not only that, but AMD has reportedly accelerated the roadmap for the debut of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, its first CPU with 3D V-Cache in the Zen 5 generation. The company making a point of confirming that the processor arrives in November in a teaser could be more an indication of its struggle to take the spotlight away from Intel this week.
