Old Nintendo 64 games will run natively

Analogue has already gained prominence in the retro console market with products such as the Analogue Pocket, a portable console that allows you to play Game Boy titles with improved resolution. Now, with the announcement of Analogue 3D, the company focuses on the legendary Nintendo 64, offering players the opportunity to pull out the classic console’s entire game library, with support for 4K resolution and several modern features.

The key point here is that, unlike many retro consoles that rely on emulators to run games, the Analogue 3D will use FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology, which means it will be able to simulate the original Nintendo 64 hardware very closely. accuracy, without the common emulation problems. The promise is that the games run exactly as they did on the original console, maintaining the nostalgic experience.

Analogue 3D will support wireless controls

Although Analogue has not yet revealed the final design of Analogue 3D, some details have already been released. The console will support 4K resolution, and players will be able to use wireless controls via Bluetooth or connect original Nintendo 64 controls, as the console will come with four compatible inputs.

Another highlight is the support for the games’ original display modes, in addition to reference-quality recreations of specific CRT and PVM monitors, thus ensuring a visual experience that goes beyond what many retro consoles can currently offer.

Analogue also announced that it is collaborating with 8BitDo, which is also a well-known name in the world of retro peripherals. Together, the companies are developing a control especially for Analogue 3D.

Global compatibility and launch later this year

One of the great advantages of Analogue 3D is its global compatibility. The console will be the first aftermarket solution to offer 100% compatibility with games from all regions: USA, Europe and Japan. This means that players will be able to enjoy any Nintendo 64 title, regardless of their origin.

There is still no exact release date or information about the price of the console, but Analogue confirmed that the 3D will be released sometime in 2024, so it is already very close as the end of the year is approaching.

And if you take the company’s history into account, the console is expected to be highly sought after and stocks will run out quickly, as has happened with previous releases.
