This week, Micron presented its new DDR5 memory modules in CUDIMM and CSODIMM formats. The components arrive under the Crucial brand, reaching speeds of up to 6400MT/s, the JEDEC standard for the technology. According to the manufacturer, performance is 15% better than traditional DDR5 and up to twice that of DDR4.

The performance numbers are not as impressive as the promises of CUDIMM modules from other manufacturers, which already talk about speeds above 9000MT/s. However, Micron wants to draw attention by highlighting that its products are the first commercially available CUDIMM and CSODIMM with the performance established by JEDEC.

“Micron is shipping the first commercially available, JEDEC-standard DDR5 CUDIMM and CSODIMM solutions to drive high speeds right out of the box for AI PCs and high-end workstations,” said Dinesh Bahal, one of the company’s executives. “With this new category, we are equipping the ecosystem with next-generation memory solutions to prepare today’s devices for tomorrow’s AI workloads.”

Micron’s new modules – which has just debuted a new logo – are now available through its Crucial brand website. The company currently offers 16GB options, with one unit or in kits of two for a total of 32GB of capacity. Each one costs US$85 (R$478), both CUDIMM and CSODIMM. The manufacturer says it will offer 64GB capacities in the first half of 2025.

The new Crucial modules are optimized for Intel Core Ultra 200 processors, according to Micron. The company emphasizes that only with these CPUs will the user achieve maximum memory performance.

On the product’s official website, the company says that using AMD processors it is possible to reach up to 5600MT/s, through BIOS adjustments. The same speed can be achieved on 14th generation or earlier Intel CPUs.

Finally, Micron highlights that its CUDIMM and SODIMM memories have a lifetime warranty, but that this warranty is lost in the case of any overclock beyond JEDEC specifications.
