Ryzen 9000X3D performance in games may disappoint, leak indicates

Rumors say that AMD should bring forward the launch of the Ryzen 9000X3D generation of its processors with 3D V-Cache, precisely because of a lukewarm launch of the Ryzen 9000 series. The current leak, however, indicates that the new CPUs may not be very exciting too, with very slight gains in gaming performance.

According to Tom’s Hardware, leaked slides in an MSI presentation show that the Ryzen 7 98003XD has an average gain of just 11% in framerate in games compared to Ryzen 7000X3D series processors. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D would reach 13%. Performance was evaluated in games such as Far Cry 6, Black Myth: Wukong and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is over six years old and still appears directly in performance tests.

This means that the new Ryzen 9000X3D processors especially aimed at gaming will have to very slightly outperform the already released standard versions of the Zen 5 generation, when at the same clock rate. But it’s worth remembering that the “basic” Ryzen 9000 usually run at higher clocks.

Ryzen 9000X3D only in rumors for now

Every rumor should be viewed with skepticism, especially in these cases of “wireless phones”. MSI slide results are being discussed at a closed event. We still don’t have official information and other benchmark test leaks have been scarce. Ryzen 9000X3D models even appeared in Cinebench R23 as well, with slightly better gains.

It is also interesting to remember that, currently, it is speculated that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will arrive later this month, with 3D V-Cache on just one chiplet (CCD). Meanwhile, the models expected for next year – the Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D – could use this cache on both CCDs.

If the first Ryzen 9000XD does arrive at the end of October, we will have official information to evaluate, and it will also help the credibility of current rumors.
