A Colorful Z890 motherboard was presented by APE, known for popularizing the back connector design and collaborating with several manufacturers to bring more models with this format. With this, he showed what the “3.0” structure will be like, with more features and functionalities.
The SKU, which has not had its line named so far, features a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and a 4x slot. Of the four DDR5 DIMMs present, three are for M.2 SSDs and one is for the M.2 WiFi connector. It is also the first to feature 4-pin SATA-PWR connectors alongside the 24-pin connector.
This Colorful Z890 motherboard has all of its connectors on the back, with the USB, fan, SATA, and power connection all located on the rear side of the hardware.
One of the highlights is the presence of the ASUS GCHPWR connector, which delivers 600W of power to GPUs. This means that your graphics card will not need its own power cable, with it being powered directly by the motherboard – bringing a simplified and “cleaner” design to compatible models.
Taking into account that Colorful allowed APE to showcase its new motherboard design, this indicates that the Intel Z890 motherboard model could hit the market – even without a target date announced or its suggested retail price officially revealed.
