As we reach another generation of processors and motherboards, the new CUDIMM DDR5 memory modules have attracted attention for allowing higher memory clocks. And now it was the turn of a G.Skill product to appear, but the new Trident Z5 CK memories were revealed in an unexpected way.
The memories were shown in hand by a Filipino YouTube channel called Xtian C. What draws attention, however, is that the video in question was an unboxing for ASUS motherboards. As you can see below, a ROG Maximus Z890 HERO and a ROG Ryujin III 360 aRGB Extreme are being shown:
At minute 11:02 of the video, the host shows us that he received a Trident Z5 CK memory kit from G.Skill as part of the shipment from ASUS. It shows that they are CUDIMM DDR5 modules and the speed appears on the label as 8,200MT/s.
The kit comes with two modules, each with 24GB, for a total of 48GB. You can see that G.Skill opted for a more discreet design, with heatsinks in a strong, shiny black color – like piano black – and giving up the RGB lights for its CUDIMM memory.
CUDIMM DDR5 modules already exceed 9,000MT/s
The speed of the components draws attention because it is below what we saw appear with CUDIMM technology. V-Color has already shown modules at 9,200MT/s and Asgard has already reached 9,600MT/s.
Meanwhile, Colorful would also be preparing CUDIMM DDR5 memories at 9,600MT/s, but in the case of this manufacturer we are still in the rumor phase.

The question then remains as to why G.Skill chose modules at 8,200MT/s. Perhaps the line offers different price and speed levels. We will probably know more information about this when we have an official announcement from the company for its new Trident Z5 CK memories.
