The mystery behind the new functionality
Nintendo hasn’t revealed exactly what test participants will experience, but the timing is interesting. With rumors circulating about the highly anticipated Switch 2, many fans believe this test could offer a preview of innovative features the next generation of the console will bring.
The company, known for its creativity and surprises, recently launched a gesture-controlled alarm clock, demonstrating that it is open to exploring new forms of interactivity. This way, any guess about what’s new can be left in the realm of imagination.
Speculations include the addition of GameCube games to the Nintendo Switch Online catalog, the launch of a retro Wii mini console or even the return of a forgotten classic, such as a new title in the Star Fox series.

Registration to participate in this test began today, October 10th and will continue until October 15th. But, unfortunately, participation has some restrictions, and one of them is that you need to be registered in selected countries and Brazil is not on the list. Check the criteria:
- Have a Nintendo Account;
- Be an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriber;
- Be 18 years old or over;
- Be registered in one of the eligible countries: Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy or Spain.
Nintendo said the test will accept up to 10,000 participants, and those who register outside of Japan will be chosen in order of registration. Japanese candidates will be selected through a lottery if the number of applications exceeds capacity. The company may also close registrations early if the participant limit is reached.
To participate, players will need to download exclusive software onto their Nintendo Switch. The test is scheduled to run from October 23rd at 9pm ET until November 5th at 7:59am ET, which will give players considerable time to explore this mysterious new feature.
Although the details are still a mystery, the test is expected to provide a preview of Nintendo’s next major releases. Considering that the original Nintendo Switch has been on the market for several years and rumors about the Switch 2 have intensified, the possibility that this new functionality is related to the next generation of the console is real and cannot be ruled out.
