A Nintendo announced a new device that promises to please the Japanese company’s most dedicated fans. I’m talking about Alarm. It’s a curious alarm clock with motion control that brings the iconic sounds of beloved franchises like Mario, Zelda and other popular Nintendo titles.

Main features of Nintendo Alarmo

What makes the Alarm special is its ability to respond to movements. Users can silence the alarm with a simple gesture or turn it off completely when getting out of bed. This functionality is made possible by a 24GHz millimeter wave sensor, as revealed in documents submitted to the US Federal Communications Commission.

The heart of Alarmo, however, is its immersive sound effects. The device comes preloaded with 35 audio “scenes” from five Switch games: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey e Ring Fit Adventure. Nintendo also promises free updates that will bring additional sounds from Animal Crossing: New Horizons e Mario Kart 8.

In addition to waking users up, Alarmo offers sleep monitoring features. Users can check their nighttime movements, set themed alarms, and choose between Steady and Gentle wake-up modes. Steady mode gradually increases the alarm intensity, while Mild maintains a consistent level. There’s also a Button mode for a more traditional alarm clock experience.
