If we consider a recent rumor, Intel Core Ultra 200 desktop processors should be announced next Thursday (10). However, some Chinese jumped the start and revealed slides comparing the Core Ultra 9 285K against the i9-14900K, showing that the Arrow Lake CPU is slightly inferior in games, but consuming less.

We are talking about the two top-of-the-line SKUs of their generations. A slide shows that the high-end Raptor Lake delivers an average of 264 FPS in games, but with an average consumption of 527w (entire system), while the Arrow Lake processor delivers an average of 261 FPS, but with 80w less consumption.

The Intel Core i9-14900K is among the best CPUs currently, fighting with the top-of-the-line AMD Ryzen 7000 processors, especially the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, one of the best models for gaming.

This same system equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K consumes up to 165W less, while delivering performance similar to the i9-14900K in different games tested. The biggest differences are in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Age Of Mythology: Retold.

Another slide compares the top-of-the-line Arrow Lake-S SKU against the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, the most advanced model with 3D V-Cache technology today. In games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Far Cry 6, Intel’s new CPU is between 13 and 21% lower, tying Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Civilization 6, and beating AMD’s CPU in Rainbow Six Siege by 15%.

In terms of productivity, the promise is that the Core Ultra 9 285K will outperform the Ryzen 9 7950X3D by up to 30%, depending on the application.
