The long-awaited remake of Until Dawn for PC had a disappointing start, with simultaneous player numbers and sales well below expectations for a title from Sony.
Released nine years after the original version for PlayStation 4, the interactive horror game developed by Ballistic Moon failed to spark the expected interest among PC gamers. In the next paragraphs I bring more details about the numbers achieved by the game.

Until Dawn remake had low player numbers and sales
In the first few days after release, Until Dawn reached a peak of just 2,607 concurrent players on the Steam platform. To put that number into perspective, other Sony titles performed significantly better in their PC debuts. Helldivers 2, for example, reached an impressive 81,840 concurrent players, while Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut reached 77,154 and God of War reached 73,529.
In addition to the low number of players, Until Dawn is also facing a lukewarm reception from the community. The game currently has an average rating of 65% among Steam players who have tried it. This assessment may be related to the technical issues reported by Digital Foundry in its review.
Sales also appear to be below expectations. Until Dawn currently occupies 69th position on Steam’s list of best-selling games, an unimpressive placement for a long-awaited title from Sony.
Sony’s hits and misses
It’s important to note that Until Dawn isn’t the only Sony game to face difficulties in its PC debut. Other titles like Sackboy: A Big Adventure e Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture also had modest numbers, with peaks of 610 and 191 simultaneous players, respectively.
However, not all of Sony’s PC releases underperformed. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66,436 simultaneous players), Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (56.557) e Days Gone (27,450) managed to attract a considerable audience.
Until Dawn’s disappointing performance on PC raises questions about Sony’s strategy for the PC gaming market. While some of the company’s titles have done well, others seem to have failed to capture the interest of PC gamers in the same way they did on PlayStation platforms.
It remains to be seen whether Sony will be able to reverse this situation with future releases or whether it will need to reevaluate its approach to the PC gaming market.
