Steam’s hardware survey for September indicates that adoption of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is still growing, albeit timidly. But its successor, the GeForce RTX 4060, recorded growth of almost 1% in the previous month, now touching the most popular GPU.
This was to be expected, as it is something natural that happens between NVIDIA’s xx60 GPUs since the GTX. But before the most popular and cheapest Ada Lovelace GPU came in second place, it was its mobile version that continued to grow, registering a drop in the new survey.
Now, the RTX 3060 appears at 5.86%, the RTX 4060 at 4.58% and its version for notebooks is at 4.37%. If it weren’t for the 0.18% drop in September, it would still be ahead of the current generation entry-level graphics card.
It’s interesting to see the growth of the RTX 3060, even if it’s just 0.35%, as the GPU costs something close to its successor. Depending on the model and store, the price is even the same. Here, the difference is around R$200 to the same value. Out there, around US$100.
The second GPU that grew the most in September was the RTX 4060 Ti for desktop PCs, reaching 3.66% and appearing in fourth. In other words, there are three variants of the RTX 4060 at the top along with the entry-level Ampere. The RTX 4070 SUPER is another GPU that grew the most (0.35%) in September.
Making its presence felt for the first time in the Steam hardware survey is the AMD Radeon 780M, a top-of-the-line iGPU from the previous generation, which is present in most of the handhelds that have flooded the market since last year. It debuts with a 0.16% share.
Still talking about AMD, the GPU identified as Radeon Graphics was the other to register growth, although very timid (0.01%). Considering all three generations of RDNA GPUs, they only registered a decline in September. Leaving aside the integrated GPUs, the Radeon RX 6600 is the one that appears best positioned, but still with less than 1% share. With a difference of 0.02%, the RX 580 comes next.
The GeForce RTX 4060’s direct competitor, the Radeon RX 7600, does not appear on the list. It’s not new that the fight for the podium in this Steam hardware survey takes place between NVIDIA GPUs, especially the XX60 series.
