Windows 11 24H2 released with new AI features and improvements

What’s new in Windows 11 24H2

Unlike recent updates, version 24H2 is a “complete operating system change”, which means the update process will take longer than usual. Microsoft is taking a gradual approach to the rollout, initially making the update available to users who actively search for it in their Windows Update settings.

To be one of the first to try the new version, users must go to Settings > Windows Update and activate the option “Get the latest updates as soon as they become available“. After that, just check if there are updates available. It is important to note that the update requires prior installation of the May 2024 non-security preview update or newer versions.

Among the most notable new features of Windows 11 24H2 are:

New AI features and known issues

Microsoft has also introduced new AI features such as AI-enhanced search, generative completion, and other AI-powered functionality that will soon be available to Windows Insiders.

As is common with major updates, Windows 11 24H2 comes with a list of known issues. There are currently six confirmed hardware and software issues, some with workarounds available, while others will be fixed in future updates.

These issues include incompatibilities with certain versions of Safe Exam Browserproblems with the Easy Anti-Cheat in some games, and issues with fingerprint sensors on certain device models.

New version lifecycle

The life cycle of Windows 11 version 24H2 is the standard 24 months for the Home and Pro editions. Windows 11 LTSC 2024, also launched last Tuesday (01), has a support cycle of 10 years, aiming meet the needs of business environments that require long-term stability.
