The ROG Ally X is the latest and most improved version of ASUS’s portable console, and the news this time is that Brazilians can now officially purchase the device in Brazil. As promised, the company launched the device here earlier this week.

The new model has interesting improvements, such as a more beautiful and even more robust design, as well as, of course, improvements in terms of specifications such as RAM, storage, battery and even the cooling system. Check out what’s new!

ROG Ally X features more RAM

The ROG Ally X arrives with the aim of further improving the experience already offered by the standard model. It is not a new model, it is just an improved version of the current one, as if it were a Pro version.

So the differences aren’t that glaring, but they’re still noticeable. In terms of processing, it keeps the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip, as the company saw no reason to replace it since it guarantees good performance even in the most demanding games.

However, when it comes to memory, the ROG Ally X brings some very interesting improvements. To start with, the RAM, since the improved device has 24 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM. This means not only more RAM, but also more speed when accessing information. This is great news when it comes to games that require higher memory usage, such as the famous Cyberpunk 2077.

Cooling and battery improvements

Another point of improvement is that the new device has a more efficient cooling system, a detail that can be very important in heavy games. The ROG Ally X now has smaller but more efficient fans that improve airflow by 24%. This way, the processor can operate 6℃ cooler, maintaining high performance for longer without overheating. The fans, which have 50% thinner fins, also operate more quietly, ensuring a more comfortable gaming experience.

The battery has also been changed, and in the ROG Ally X it comes with an even larger capacity to give users more gaming time. The new device now has a battery with a capacity of 80 Wh, double when compared to the standard version. Unfortunately, in practice, this does not mean that the battery life will also double, but it will still ensure that gaming sessions are considerably longer.

Additionally, this new capability also allows the processor to operate at higher TDPs, ensuring more performance even when the console is being used away from the power outlet.

Improved design and more comfort

In terms of design and comfort, the good news is that even with twice the battery, the ROG Ally X is only 70 grams heavier than the standard model, weighing in at 678 grams in total. It is a bit larger, but that can also be good news, as it can improve ergonomics and comfort during gameplay.

ASUS took the opportunity to make small changes to the design, making the console more comfortable for long sessions of use. The black plastic used in the finish gives it a more sober and modern look.

In terms of connectivity, the big news is that the ROG Ally X has a second USB-C port, which replaces the proprietary XG Mobile port found on the standard model. In addition, ASUS has also moved the MicroSD card reader and improved the directional and analog buttons for greater durability. The internal SSD slot has also been improved to support larger SSDs in the 2280 standard, which are more common and affordable on the market.

The rest of the specs are identical to the original ROG Ally. The device features a 7-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium. It comes equipped with a 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, a front-facing stereo sound system with Dolby Atmos, a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, and Windows 11. In addition, it offers three free months of Xbox Game Pass.

Price and availability

The ASUS ROG Ally X is now available on the official ASUS store for R$7,999 at up to 12x of R$ 666.58. For those who can pay in cash via PIX, there is a 10% discount, which drops the price to R$7,199.10. The portable console will also soon begin to be sold at several partner retailers in Brazil.
