Microsoft has announced the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 “Cipher” line of controllers, featuring a variety of translucent colors – allowing users to see the internal components, as was the trend in the late 90s and 2000s.

According to the announcement, there will be six different colors: green, pink, red, purple, dark blue and one that is just transparent. All of them will have a black bottom, highlighting the tone of each one. In addition, they will also have new D-pads and Chroma rear buttons – which add a more chic touch to the models.

As Microsoft will make the Cipher line of Xbox Elite controllers available through the “Design Lab,” consumers will be able to customize the plastic with the color of the buttons and triggers – creating more unique combinations for each taste. Its suggested retail price will be $150.

The manufacturer will also have the Ghost Cipher Special Edition controller, a variant that is not part of the Elite line and pairs with the Sky Cipher Special Edition, coming out cheaper on consumers’ pockets. With a suggested price of $70, it is also translucent with white and gray parts – with gold details for the D-pad and triggers.

It is important to note that Microsoft has not yet revealed whether the Xbox Elite Cipher controllers will also be available in Brazil, nor is there a suggested price for them in our market. More information may be released in future announcements for the Latin American region.

Over twenty years ago, translucent controllers were one of the most popular and were present on several platforms – in addition to devices that arrived in stores this way. It is impossible to mention this period without mentioning the Nintendo 64 and the controllers produced by authorized manufacturers for PlayStation and PCs.

Microsoft has decided to go straight for the nostalgia, bringing the translucent controllers back to its platforms and highlighting their presence – whether in the regular format or in the Xbox Elite Wireless models for the Cipher line.
