Zotac’s RTX 4070 with GDDR6 gets a slight price reduction compared to GDDR6X

Now it’s Zotac’s turn to launch its new RTX 4070 options with GDDR6 globally. What’s striking, however, is that the cards finally have a discount compared to their GDDR6X versions. Until now, we were only seeing launches at the same price or even more expensive using the slower memories.

Zotac has introduced three new RTX 4070 models in its Twin Edge dual-fan lineup. Two come in black—one with OC and one without—and one with OC in white. All come with a box indicating that they use 12GB GDDR6. VideoCardz claims that these same cards were first made available only in China, without the box indicating, so it seems that the manufacturer is targeting the Western market.

What really stands out is the difference in price. At the time of writing, only the most basic model of the cards has appeared on Newegg, the RTX 4070 Twin Edge without OC. It is listed on the store for $549.99, while the same card with GDDR6X costs $559.99.

In other words, we have a US$10 reduction in the price of the board. It is a very subtle discount, but it reflects the difference in performance between the two generations of memory – that is, around 2%.

New versions of the RTX 4070 are still coming

Every day we are seeing more AIB launches of RTX 4070 models using GDDR6 memory. At first it seemed that most would not indicate the memory generation on the box, but we have already seen many choose to do so.

Meanwhile, the prices still didn’t seem very attractive, but now we finally have an option with some discount, as expected for such a change in hardware. So, we can speculate that we will see more models and options bringing some level of reduction in price to the RTX 4070 with GDDR6, not the other way around.
