Officially announced this Tuesday (10), the PlayStation 5 Pro promises to improve the performance of several games available in the console’s library. However, it will not do this alone, and developers will need to create specific patches to take advantage of the improved hardware.

In an interview with CNET, the lead engineer responsible for the hardware, Mark Cerny, confirmed that Between 40 and 50 titles will receive this treatment on the product’s release date. However, so far the company has only released a list of 13 titles, many of which have already appeared in its reveal broadcast.

Among them are big first-party hits like Gran Turismo 7 (which will receive ray tracing), Horizon Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. As for third parties, it confirmed support for The First Descendant, Hogwarts Legacy and the yet-to-be-released Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Games already confirmed that will be improved on PlayStation 5 Pro

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • The Crew Motorfest
  • The First Descendant
  • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered

Console promises improvements for PS4 games

Sony also said that the new console model will bring improvements to PlayStation VR2 games, but did not go into further detail about this. So far, Cerny has only noted that, at least theoretically, the new hardware should allow developers to work with higher resolutions within virtual reality projects.

In its announcement, the Japanese company also revealed the new feature known as PS5 Pro Boost, which should improve the performance of PS4 games running in backwards compatibility. According to the company, while some should receive framerate improvements, others may be limited to running more stably.

The PlayStation 5 Pro hits stores in the United States on November 7th this year for a suggested price of US$699.99, or almost R$4,000 in a direct conversion. According to Sony, this will be the price of the console with 2TB of storage, but without a disc reader or vertical stand available.
