A new leak about AMD Radeon RX 8000 GPUs indicates that the hardware will come to the public equipped with GDDR6 memory – reaching a maximum of 20 Gbps in some of its models.
The information came from the leaker “@Kepler_L2“, who shows what the speed of the models will be from the memory interface. Check out the post below and what it suggests:
As you can see, AMD’s plans for its Radeon RX 8000 GPUs could feature GDDR6 memory using 256-bit models – with modules using 18 and 20 Gbps. Taking the RX 7000 line as an example, which also has graphics cards with 20 Gbps, this should bring a bandwidth of 640 GB/s on the RDNA 4 architecture.
The 18 Gbps version could bring a total bandwidth of 576 GB/s to the high-end graphics cards in the Radeon RX 8000 line. It is also mentioned that the 192-bit model will use 19 Gbps GDDR6 memory, possibly delivering a bandwidth of 456 GB/s.
In terms of memory capacity, AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPUs should max out at 16GB – with a 256-bit bus configuration; while models with a 192-bit bus may be offered in 12GB models.

AMD Radeon RX 8000 GPU Configurations
Following the logic revealed above, AMD Radeon RX 8000 GPUs with GDDR6 memory are expected to follow the following configurations within four already leaked models:
- Radeon RX 8000 (Navi 48): 256-bit / 20 Gbps / 640 GB/s;
- Radeon RX 8000 (Navi 48): 256-bit / 18 Gbps / 576 GB/s;
- Radeon RX 8000 (Navi 48): 192-bit / 19 Gbps / 456 GB/s;
- Radeon RX 8000 (Navi 44): 128-bit / 18 Gbps / 288 GB/s
With all these details in hand, AMD supposedly does not want to put its Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPUs to compete against NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards – which will be equipped with GDDR7 memory and promise an even greater performance leap than what has been seen recently.
However, they may be adopting the same strategy that Intel proposed – delivering entry-level and mid-range hardware, becoming more popular in terms of cost/benefit by continuing to use GDDR6 memories.
While no official announcement has been made, AMD is expected to formally unveil its Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPUs at CES 2025 in January. We’ll likely see the GeForce RTX 50 at the same event, which could shake up the market early next year.
