Now available for purchase, the new adapter that allows the PSVR 2 to work on the PC was accompanied by several criticisms. These range from compatibility issues to the fact that the headset installation process is not as easy as the adapter should make it.
According to The Verge, while the device has a good screen quality and advanced features, its software still lacks tweaks. As a result, playing Half-Life Alyx is a “scary” experience — not because of the game’s content itself, but because of the frequent glitches it ends up presenting.
“My Quest 3 streams this game almost perfectly from the same PC within the same room, and yet my PSVR 2 struggles even with a physical cable to help it out”, explains analyst Sean Hollister. He highlights that Several people who purchased the accessory are reporting similar experiences on the internet.
PSVR 2 adapter was made by cutting costs
Hollister says he suspects the main problem with the PSVR 2 adapter is that it was clearly designed with “cost-cutting” in mind. Its small size combines the PC’s USB-A and Display Port connections, allowing the VR headset to be connected using a dedicated USB-C cable.
In addition to apparently not being made with high quality components, The product also carries several restrictions on what types of cable it can work with.. Depending on the Display Port option used (a cable is not provided by the manufacturer), users may find themselves unable to establish a stable connection or even get the product to work.
The site also criticized the fact that there is no adaptation of the PSVR 2 controllers, which need to be connected to the PC via Bluetooth — but can only be updated via USB-C. The Verge claims that the official dongle sold by Sony only works on motherboards that have native Bluetooth connectivity disabled, but even this can lead to compatibility and connection issues.

To complete, PSVR 2 still seems to have issues accessing the Steam overlay and only allows you to control SteamVR features using motion controllers. So while the headset can be said to work with computers, it comes at the cost of a lot of effort and results in an experience that still needs a lot of updates to be considered satisfactory.
