The iPad Pro, despite its higher price tag, is Apple’s best-selling tablet. A recent study by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) shows that in the second quarter of this year, it accounted for 43% of Apple’s tablet sales, an increase of 5% over last year.

This growth coincides with the launch of the new iPad Pro in May, which may have boosted sales. In contrast, the iPad Air, which also had a new version, saw its share fall from 15% to 12%.

CIRP analysts noted that consumers tend to prefer more expensive and advanced models when new products are launched by Apple.

For comparison, the iPad Pro starts at $999 in the US and R$12,299 in Brazil, while the iPad Air starts at $599 and R$6,999, respectively.

The iPad and iPad Mini models, with no new versions in the period, maintained stable sales: the iPad with 35% and the Mini fell from 12% to 10%.

CIRP predicts that Apple’s tablet market should stabilize over the next two to three quarters, which will show whether the iPad Pro’s popularity is temporary or permanent.
