OLX: iPhone 11 is the best-selling used smartphone in the first half of the year

O iPhone 11 is the smartphone with the most sales through OLX in the first six months of this year. The survey by the largest marketplace for classifieds of used products, cars and properties in Brazil reveals that the model represents 19% of the sales share. The iPhone 12 occupies the second position, with a 12% share, and the iPhone 13 comes next, in third place, with 11%.

“Used smartphones are an excellent option for those who dream of purchasing a top-of-the-line model at a more attractive price. An example of this is the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple’s latest generation, whose second-hand device costs, on average, 17% less than a new one. Also noteworthy is the growth in demand for editions that are around three years old, such as the iPhone 13, which saw a positive variation of 48% in searches, which shows that people who have older, unused devices find on the platform the opportunity to earn extra income by letting go of them,” says the VP of Automobiles and Consumer Goods at the OLX Group, Flávio Passos.

Apple smartphones dominate the ranking of the 15 most sold through the platform, which includes the presence of two models from the most recent generations: the iPhone 15, in 14th place; and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, in 15th place, both with a 2% share of sales. Samsung’s best representative is the Galaxy S21, which occupies 11th place and has a 3% share.

The iPhone 11 also leads in demand in the semester, with 22% representation, followed by the iPhone 12, with 13% and the iPhone 13, in third place, with 12%. Among Samsung cell phones, the S20 is the best positioned in the ranking, in 13th place and 2% share.

In the ranking of most advertised, the iPhone 11 also leads, with a 19% share. The iPhone 13 is in second place and the iPhone 12 comes in third, both with a 13% share.

Cheaper used

The Samsung Galaxy S20 comes out on top in terms of used price. With an average price of R$879 on OLX, it is 59% cheaper than a new one. On Apple’s side, the iPhone 11, which costs R$1,717 on the platform, is 31% cheaper than its new version.
