With the arrival of AMD Strix Point (Ryzen AI 300) APUs on the market, at least at this initial stage we only have them equipped in notebooks and devices from the manufacturer’s main commercial partners. However, AOOSTAR revealed that the others will receive the new mobile processors starting in October.

This means that the use of Zen5 and RDNA 3.5 architecture chips in mini PCs and gaming laptops will be seen frequently around the end of 2024 – something that fans have been waiting for since the official announcement of the new line.

AOOSTAR, which manufactures mini PCs, revealed through its Discord that other manufacturers will receive AMD Strix Point APUs only in October – in positive forecasts – and revealed that they have not been able to test the processor yet, even with their motherboards ready to use it.

Considering that the Ryzen AI 300 also supports the FP8 SoC, we should see motherboards similar to those used in the latest Phoenix and Hawk Point generations. However, it has not yet been revealed what the models will look like and how they will take advantage of the technology of the new processors.

While the arrival of AMD Strix Point APUs in mini PCs and gaming laptops is inevitable, it is worth noting that no manufacturer outside the “inner circle” has had the opportunity to test the new hardware – so there will be few products equipped with them from this niche that are expected to be revealed to the public until their widespread availability.

It is important to note that the majority of major gaming laptops use processors from AMD’s previous lines. With the launch of Strix Point APUs on the market, it is possible that Valve, ASUS and Lenovo will also consider using these models for the next versions of their devices.

MSI has already reached an agreement with Intel, announcing its future MSI Claw 8 AI+ with Core Ultra 200V processors (Lunar Lake). In addition, the company revealed that its “regular” MSI Claw devices will also receive a version with the mobile CPUs that will be launched in September 2024.
