PS5 was the most sought after console by Brazilians in the first half of 2024

O Playstation 5launched in November 2020, remains on the rise and has accumulated 115 thousand interested parties in the first half of the year. With prices ranging from R$2,067 to R$4,196, the console ranks 16th among the most sought-after items during the period, and was in first place among the most sought-after consoles by Brazilians in the first half of 2024, according to data compiled by Buscapé, the country’s main price comparison site.

Cell phones and smartphones lead search intentions

The Cell Phones and Smartphones category remained the leader among the categories most sought after by consumers during the first half of the year – in 2023, the segment was also at the forefront of searches during the period. In addition to leading the ranking, cell phones and smartphones also dominate the list of most searched products, with eight models appearing in the top ten.

The search for air conditioning, a category that occupies second place in the semester with more than 1 million interested parties, was reinforced by the high temperatures recorded during the period, including throughout the autumn and beginning of winter.

Next, the categories Refrigerator, Washing Machine and TV complete the top 5. Compared to the same period last year, all of them showed a drop in searches, with reductions of 20.72%, 29.28% and 28.26%, respectively. On the other hand, Tablets, Electric Fryers and Fans/Circulators saw an increase of 87.26%, 50.37% and 44.46% in consumer interest.

Among the 20 most searched categories in the semester, Tennis Shoes, Headphones, Smartwatches and Dietary Supplements also stood out. The increase in searches for these categories may have been driven by the growing adoption of street races and the Olympic year, which intensifies consumers’ interest in sports.

Galaxy S23 was the most searched item

Among the most sought-after items of the semester, the leader was the Samsung Galaxy S23 5G 8GB 128GB, with an average price of R$2,998. The second position was occupied by the Mondial Family AFN-40 4L Air Fryer Oil-Free Electric Fryer, an item that has been gaining more and more prominence in homes, due to its ease and convenience. In third place, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G 8GB RAM 128GB presented itself as an intermediate model with good cost-benefit and prices ranging from R$1,585 to R$1,982. In fourth place was the Motorola Moto G84 256GB 8GB RAM, found from R$1,259. In fifth place, the iPhone 14 6GB 128GB, with an average price of R$4,187.

Most searched items in July

Following the trend of the first half of the year, the most searched items in July were dominated by cell phones, with Samsung standing out. Among the top ten, eight were smartphones, and five belonged to the Korean company.

The most sought-after item of the month was the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G 12GB 256GB, with an average price of R$4,252. Second place went to the Samsung Galaxy S23 5G 8GB 256GB, with prices ranging from R$2,799 to R$3,088. In third place is the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G 128GB 8GB, found from R$1,739.

Surprisingly, in fourth place, a category swap put the Tramontina 4.5L Vancouver 20582 Pressure Cooker, with an average price of R$273, in the spotlight. Smartphones once again shone in fifth place, occupied by the Apple iPhone 15 6GB 128GB, found starting at R$4,599.
