If you’ve been on Instagram recently and noticed that some people are posting the word Gold in their Notes, you probably don’t quite understand what’s going on, but we’ll explain.

The new feature is the posting of the word that makes the color of the Notes change. Nothing too drastic, but it’s a new feature that’s catching a lot of people’s attention. Come find out more details!

Tribute to the Olympics on Instagram

Instagram has a new, probably temporary, activation that makes comments in Notes turn gold if the user writes the word Gold (which in translation is Gold, but which can also be used for the color gold).

Although Instagram has not released any official statement about this news, it is very likely that it is in honor of the Paris 2024 Olympics, as it has everything to do with the competition’s gold medals.

But the word Gold isn’t the only one that can change the background color of comments. The gold color also appears for words in Portuguese like “Ouro” and “Campeão”. In addition, you can also activate it by adding the gold medal emoji to the comment.

For some people, it’s still not possible to see other users’ gold backgrounds unless you also post a note with one of these words and enable it in your Notes. That’s why a lot of people are seeing people post “Gold” in their Notes, but with a background that remains the default white.

For others, you can already see the gold background even without having activated it. Just in case, check out how to get in on the trend and make your comments’ backgrounds golden in Notes:

  • First, open Instagram and tap the speech bubble icon to open the conversations and chats page.
  • Then, click on your profile picture which is just above the messages, where it says “Note..”
  • Now just write a message that has some of the words mentioned, such as Gold, Champion, Gold or the emoji, and then publish.

Instagram also gets new features in the feed

And taking advantage of the wave of new features on Instagram, it’s worth mentioning that the social network has great news for those who love posting as many photos as possible on their Feed. It turns out that Instagram has doubled the limit on the number of photos that can be posted.

This means that instead of the previous limit of 10 photos, users will now be able to share up to 20 photos and videos in a single post. A representative for the social network confirmed that the update will be available globally starting today.
