ChatGPT generates 2 images for free per day

OpenAI has announced that users of the free version of ChatGPT will now be able to create up to two images per day using the DALL-E 3 model, both via the web and via the Android and iOS apps.

The update was released last Thursday and brings a significant expansion in access to the company’s AI tools. Initially, when DALL-E 3 launched in September, it was only available to users who paid for ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise.

How to use DALL-E 3 in ChatGPT

DALL-E 3 was released almost a year ago, in September 2023 to be precise, and it is currently the most recent OpenAI model capable of generating images from text. One of its main improvements was precisely the ability to be integrated with ChatGPT to generate images within the chatbot.

It is currently one of the most well-known and popular tools in this regard, as it can offer high-quality images. That is why it is so interesting that free users can have this access, even if it is limited.

For those who want to test it, just access ChatGPT either through the browser or through the apps on your smartphone. Then just ask it to generate an image describing details with text.

Although it is available for the free plan, this does not change the final quality of the image or the tool, but access is limited to just 2 images per day, as mentioned above. OpenAI revealed the news through a post on X, formerly Twitter:

Gradual access

OpenAI said the DALL-E 3 imaging functionality is “rolling out” gradually to all users. However, some users may already have access to the new feature.

During testing by Hardware.com.br, it was possible to create two images using the ChatGPT application on the computer before receiving a notification that the daily image creation limit had been reached.

Additionally, the company also released a security assessment of its GPT-4o model, and announced the addition of a new member to its board of directors.
