Nvidia shares are up 13%, accumulating a 136% appreciation this year alone, reaching a historic market value of US$329 billion (around R$1.89 trillion). The previous record was reached on February 22 of this year, when he added US$9.6 billion (around R$55 billion) to his assets after a jump in the company’s shares.

With this, Huang raised his total net worth to $102.8 billion, surpassing the $100 billion mark in a week for the first time. He is currently the 14th richest person in the worldright behind Michael Dell, chairman and founder of Dell.

NVIDIA under investigation in the US

But not everything is rosy. Nvidia, responsible for around 80% of global GPU production and 98% in the data centerhas benefited from positive investor expectations due to the demand for solutions artificial intelligence (IA).

However, this market leadership has also brought challenges for the company. Recently, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) launched an investigation into Nvidia’s possible excessive influence on the global economy.

The DOJ wants to understand whether Nvidia used its dominant position to block the entry of competitors. To do so, it contacted companies such as AMDamong other rivals. The investigation also examines the integration between software and hardware in Nvidia’s components, especially since the AI ​​market depends on a key platform called CUDA — which operates exclusively on Nvidia platforms and has software locks that prevent use with competing products.
