While the expectation in GPUs is for the next generation of AMD and NVIDIA, it seems that we will still have the expansion of the current lineup of the red side. A leaker now claims that the company led by Lisa Su is preparing two entry-level RDNA 3-based GPUs: RX 7400 and RX 7300.

The two graphics cards would use Navi 33 GPUs, the same one that already equips different SKUs, such as the Radeon RX 7600 (XT), in addition to the RX 7600 variants for notebooks and two models of the Radeon PRO line. Of course, in the case of this rumor, they would be cut versions of the GPU.

Leaker Komachi_Ensaka does not reveal any specifications, except for the model names, the GPU and the PCI Device ID number 7499, information that must have been found with some change in AMD’s drivers.

The smaller Navi 33 GPU implementation in the Radeon RX 7000 series brings 1,792 cores to the Radeon RX 7600S and 7600M, two mobile SKUs. So we could be talking about that amount for the RX 7400 and even less for the RX 7300. Interestingly, AMD would be skipping the RX 7500.

Entry-level Radeon RX 7000 GPUs need to outperform RDNA 3.5 iGPUs

If both GPUs become real, they would have the difficult task of beating AMD’s own integrated graphics. The Radeon 890M, a top-of-the-line iGPU based on RDNA 3.5, and which is already available through the Ryzen AI 300 series, delivers promising results in games.

AMD’s integrated graphics outperform the desktop GeForce GTX 1650, as this benchmark shows. This means the Radeon 890M already outperforms the RX 6400, and given the margin the RDNA 3.5 iGPU has over NVIDIA’s GPU, it could even edge out the RX 6500 XT.

We can imagine that AMD will bring some level of performance boost with the Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 over entry-level RDNA 2-based GPUs, surpassing AMD’s current best iGPU.

That is, of course, if the rumors about the Strix Halo series don’t come true. We’re talking about integrated graphics that can compete with something between the GeForce RTX 4060 and 4070 for notebooks, a level that is undoubtedly superior to any iGPU and entry-level GPU.

We usually get video card news in the last quarter of the year, so we may know more about the possible new Radeon RX 7000 by then, or they may arrive without any fanfare, as sometimes happens with less important GPUs.
