A US retailer has registered Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite Mini PC, the official “Dev Kit” for its platform that will be available to developers and the general public. According to the data presented, the hardware will sell for US$899 and is expected to be available on August 23, 2024.
The model will feature the fastest processor in the Snapdragon X Elite line, known as X1E-00-IDE with 12 cores, reaching up to 4.3 GHz (dual-core boost) and with Adreno GPU with 4.6 TFLOPS and Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS for artificial intelligence.
It also comes with 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of NVMe storage, plus support for WiFi-7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The Snapdragon X Elite Mini PC also has Ethernet ports (1, no speed specifications), USB-C (3), USB Type-A (2), an HDMI output, and a headphone and headset jack.
It is important to mention that, as a “Dev Kit”, its main objective is to help developers create software – or adapt existing software – to be compatible with Windows on the Arm architecture.
It can be used as a regular Mini PC, but only if the user doesn’t want to spend more than $1,000 on the Copilot+ notebooks with Snapdragon X Elite. Its size is also not as small as other compact computers on the market, reaching dimensions of 20x17cm.

Qualcomm wants to expand its base
Considering that Copilot+ PCs have not achieved the desired popularity – including some of them being purchased only for their greater energy efficiency to extend their usage time – Qualcomm is making the Mini PC available so that developers can bring even more software to their new ecosystem.
Although the manufacturer does not intend to boost the compact market, the Snapdragon Dev Kit can also give others an idea of what a mini PC with the new chip would look like. This could open doors for others who want to build smaller computers with the processor, bringing even greater diversity to the consumer.
