A Intel confirmed that it will offer an extra 2 years of warranty to 13th and 14th generation processors affected by instability issues. The company that confirmed the dismissal of 15 thousand employeeswill adopt this warranty extension considering the severity of the problems in some Core chip units. Raptor Lake e Raptor Lake-Resfreshsince the microcode update that will be released will not be able to fix the affected chips. Since the failure is directly linked to a deregulation in the operating voltage of the chips, the damage is permanent.

The company confirmed the decision to extend the warranty in a post on their official website. With the official launch, in addition to the standard 3-year warranty for chips, Intel will add two more, totaling 5 years of warranty. It is worth noting that this additional warranty only applies to “in-box” units. Users who experience problems with CPUs integrated into pre-assembled computers will have to contact the OEM company responsible for the sale.

Update will be a palliative

The update that Intel is preparing in case of instability problems with its 13th and 14th generation processors will be a preventive measure, designed to prevent chips that are working perfectly from facing incorrect voltage usage, caused by an algorithm that generates incorrect voltage requests for the CPU, directly impacting the chip’s instability.

Intel currently recommends that owners of 13th and 14th Gen processors enable the profile Intel Default Setting (ou Intel Baseline)already available in the latest UEFI firmware. This setting will allow the CPU to operate according to official specifications. That is, no need to continue operating with manual adjustments aimed at overclocking.
