AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors hit the world market yesterday and the first tests are starting to appear on the internet. One of them done by a well-known Chinese insider shows that even iGPU Radeon 880M outperforms the best integrated graphics implementation of the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H.
On the Bilibili forum, user Golden Pig Upgrade showed the graphics performance of the only two SKUs in the series, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 9 365, equipped with the Radeon 890M and Radeon 880M iGPUs, respectively.
For comparison, the tester added the Ryzen 7 8845HS, one of the Hawk Point mobile APUs that features a Radeon 780M (Zen 3), AMD’s best iGPU to date. In addition to this model, the comparison also includes the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, a top-of-the-line Meteor Lake CPU.
Ryzen AI 300 gaming performance
In different 3DMark benchmarks, there was a balance between the Ryzen AI 300 processors and the Intel model, with advantages for both sides. But things change in games at 1080p and different graphics presets.
With the exception of Dota 2, where the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H has the advantage (with the game running on the low preset), the two Ryzen with RDNA 3.5-based Radeon iGPUs have the advantage in the other games tested.
It’s worth noting that the Radeon 890M, which is the largest implementation of AMD’s RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, delivers between 14 and 61% more performance than the Radeon 780M on the Ryzen 7 8845HS, a good generational leap.
The results obtained by Golden Pig Upgrade are also compared to dedicated mobile GPUs, as AMD did in its announcement of the Ryzen AI 300. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is slightly above a 50W GTX 1650 Ti. The RTX 3050 Max-Q still remains the best mobile graphics chip.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370’s default TDP is 28W, but it can be pushed up to 54W, where it extracts more performance. The gaming tests presented here took the processor in question to a peak of 51.3W, and the Ryzen AI 9 365 to 50W. This peak was reached in tests in Cyberpunk 2077.
There is no doubt that we are heading towards the disuse of dedicated entry-level GPUs for notebooks soon. In addition to the Ryzen AI 300 with integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics, we will also have the Core Ultra 200 that will be equipped with Arc Xe 2, Intel’s second-generation graphics and which also promises good results.
