Mini PC makers have been struggling to make a statement with their design in an increasingly competitive market. After Linlong offered a complete system inside a keyboard, Miniproca wants to include a display in its device.
The company announced today, the 11th, the project of its small computer on Kickstarter. This is another mini PC equipped with Ryzen, a Ryzen 9 6900HX APU, to be precise. In other words, we have a processor model that is already two years old. It comes with integrated Radeon 680M graphics.
The AMD chip powers the small 7-inch articulated touchscreen on top of the device. It can fold flat for transport or be positioned at any point on a 90-degree hinge when in use. The resolution is 4K, with a frequency of up to 120Hz.
Other specifications of Miniproca’s mini PC include:
- Memory: 8, 16 or 32GB DDR5 options
- Storage: 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSD
- 1x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI e 1x USB-C para vÃdeo
- Compatible with Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2
- Dimensions: 175 x 137 x 55mm
- Weight: 855g (aluminum body)
The relatively simple idea of ​​putting a display on a small NUC-style computer seems to have caught people’s attention. At the time of writing, the project has already far surpassed its small $5,000 Kickstarter goal, raising nearly $40,000 from backers.
It helps that the product isn’t exactly cheap. At its most affordable level, with 8GB of RAM + 512GB of storage, the Kickstarter pre-order costs $699. In other words, just seven backers at this level would be enough to hit the goal.
Interestingly, the most expensive tier isn’t the most advanced. The 32GB + 2TB configuration has a bigger backer discount, costing $919 pre-launch.
Miniproca plans to start shipping the mini PCs in October, at which point their minimum price will jump to $1,259.
