Samsung recently launched Galaxy AI alongside the Galaxy S24, introducing a series of AI-powered tools that promise to transform the user experience.

The service has been well received, bringing features such as the ability to summarize web pages, translate text and audio in real time, and edit photos, which can be quite useful in everyday life. But unfortunately, these will also become paid services from 2026.

Galaxy AI is free to use until 2025

The news is not exactly news, since as soon as the Galaxy AI was presented, Samsung made it clear that the service would only be free until the end of 2025. And now, in a recent press release, the South Korean giant has already started to signal that it will start charging for the service, reminding consumers of this deadline.

This week, Samsung issued a statement that focused mainly on announcing the opening of 7 Galaxy Experience Spaces in several cities around the world to showcase the capabilities of Galaxy AI.

These spaces are located in strategic cities such as Paris, Berlin, New York, Dubai, Jakarta, Seoul and Tokyo. At these locations, visitors can experience Galaxy AI’s capabilities first-hand and better understand how these tools can be integrated into their daily lives.

But in the statement they emphasized that “Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on compatible Samsung Galaxy devices”making it clear that, from 2026 onwards, these services will be charged.

Will the service be fully paid or will there be a free version?

Galaxy AI

Although most of the virtual assistants and artificial intelligence chatbots on the market today were launched for free, most of them now have more powerful paid versions.

This is the case of Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, for example, which today have free versions and paid versions, namely Gemini Advanced, Copilot Plus and ChatGPT Plus, respectively. These paid versions offer more advanced and enhanced capabilities than the free ones.

Following this trend, Samsung may adopt a similar strategy with the Galaxy AI, offering basic features for free and launching a paid version with advanced features in the future, which could be called, for example, Galaxy AI+. However, it is still unclear whether this will be the company’s strategy or whether it will opt to maintain only the paid version of the Galaxy AI.

Meanwhile, Galaxy AI is gaining more new features

For now, users still have 1 year and a half to enjoy Galaxy AI for free, and during this period, Samsung’s service should receive several new features. These interactive experiences in the aforementioned cities will begin after the Galaxy Unpacked event, which will take place on July 10 in Paris.

In it, the company is expected to present its newest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, as well as Galaxy Watch 7 watches and even more details about its smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. It is also likely that the company will talk more about Galaxy AI and even present more functions for the service, something that would explain the experiences with more news.
