MSI revela notebook Titan 18 Pro Ryzen Edition com specs monstruosas

MSI has launched a new edition of its robust Titan 18 Pro notebook, but now for AMD lovers. Even carrying Ryzen Edition in its name, the device swaps its Intel processor from the original launch for an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D. The RTX 4090 is retained, making this a portable device that leaves many desktop PCs in the dust.

According to the folks at Tom’s Hardware, this is the second notebook in history to incorporate a Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, with the first being the Asus ROG Scar 17 X3D, launched last year. As this processor has already achieved the position of “the best for gaming” in notebooks, it is safe to say that the Titan 18 Pro Ryzen Edition is a beautiful beast.

Along with its powerful processor and GPU, MSI’s notebook also features up to 96GB of RAM and 4TB of PCIe Gen5 storage. The original Intel-powered Titan 18 had less RAM and Gen4 SSDs, but had its drives in RAID-0. The Ryzen Edition of the laptop also sacrifices Thunderbolt 4.

Moving on to the screen, we have 18” as indicated by the name, with up to 240Hz refresh rate in 16:10 aspect ratio. The resolution is 2560 x 1600p and the display is DisplayHDR 1000 certified. Being a high-end product, the Titan 18 Pro Ryzen Edition offers an RGB mechanical keyboard, made by SteelSeries. Some interested parties may consider this a step back from the Cherry MX switches of the original model.

The delay of about a year to see a new product with the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D resulted in a curious timing for the arrival of MSI’s notebook. Less than a month to go until the arrival of the Ryzen AI 300 series of APUs, which have been standing out in their performance.

Previously, leaks from Geekbench have already indicated that the top of the new line, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, can stand up to the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D in single-core tests.

That still doesn’t mean the products compete with each other, however. In addition to the 7945HX3D performing better in multi-cores, it is aimed at a different product segment. It’s unlikely we’ll see a notebook with a Ryzen AI 300 and an RTX 4090, for example.

Speaking of product segment, the Titan 18 Pro Ryzen Edition is being sold first in China, with prices starting at RMB 22,000. That’s roughly $16,675 at the current exchange rate.
