On Thursday, Hardware Unboxed reported that ASUS is ending production of its RTX 5070 Ti. At the time, the website stated that the company itself “explicitly informed that this model is facing a supply shortage and, therefore, has placed it in an end-of-life state”.

The same applies to ASUS’s 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. The channel also mentioned the difficulties that retailers in Australia have faced in finding the sign. The reason for the end of their useful life is the limited memory supplywhich are becoming more expensive due to the demand for AI data centers.

And everything suggests that the victims of this shortage are likely to increase, with memory prices already rising and products running out of stock.

It is also important to highlight that, according to a note sent to Adrenaline, NVIDIA reported that this decision applies only to ASUS and that it will keep all 50 series SKUs in production.

“Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is high and memory supply is limited. We continue to ship all GeForce SKUs and are working closely with our suppliers to maximize memory availability,” highlights André Forte, NVIDIA Public Relations Manager for Latin America.

Shortages likely to get worse

Unfortunately, it’s not surprising to see the restrictions affecting the more affordable versions of the 50-series GPUs first. Companies are striving to use as little silicon as possible to achieve maximum production.

And among the victims of the shortage, Micron decided it would close the Crucial brand of consumer memories. And the worst part was that she said she did it to “help” customers while looking to maximize profits with the high demand for AI.

Fortunately, there is good news. PNY PR rep Michael Farino confirmed to The Verge that the Dual-Slot Slim (DSS) RTX 5070 Ti, just announced at CES, is still slated for release. “start shipping in February and will be available in all usual retail stores.”

It remains to be seen whether it will arrive in stock in Brazil.

Currently, two ASUS 5070 Ti models are available at Kabum, the ASUS Prime OC for R$8,099.91 and ASUS TUF Gaming OC for R$8,099.91. And there is also an RTX 5060 TI model for R$2,979.90.
