A new entry on Geekbench has confirmed the specifications of the Xeon 698X processor, Intel’s flagship for workstations and part of the “Granite Rapids WS” line. The benchmark lists the chip as having 86 cores and 172 threads, clocked at 4.6 GHz and with a massive 336 MB L3 cache capacity.
The tested system was identified as Intel Corporation GNR-WS, running Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS with 251 GB of memory. In Geekbench 6.5, the CPU achieved 2,532 points in single-core and 21,030 points in multi-coreindicating performance compatible with high-performance workstation workloads.

Compared to its predecessor, the Xeon w9-3595X, which offered 60 cores and 120 threads based on the Sapphire Rapids architecture, the new model increases the core count by almost 43% and doubles the L3 cache capacity.
In general, the previous model achieved scores between 2,700 in single-core and 24,000 in multi-core. In other words, It is likely that this benchmark result is not demonstrating the CPU’s full potential.

February?
The Intel Granite Rapids-WS, like the Core 200K Plus and Arc B770 GPU, was not announced at CES 2026. And there was no other announcement from Intel, meaning that, Officially, there is nothing to indicate that the series will be released anytime soon.
However, one of the companies involved in a previous leak casually revealed that the embargo is expected to be lifted in early February. This suggests a release date for next month.
Furthermore, distributor listings already indicated the premium positioning of the Xeon 698X, with prices around US$8,294 (R$44,720.42).
