A Sonyled by Mark Cerny, recently announced the long awaited PS5 Pro consoleits second update to the 2020 base version, which did not please everyone.

Despite the high price, analysts predict that the PS5 Pro will sell well

Still, for Cerny, the architect behind this console, the PS5 Pro is the hardware destined to solve the dilemma between fidelity and performanceallowing players to opt for what they really want: visually stunning games.

More performance or graphics quality? Why not both?

Mark Cerny, PlayStation’s chief architect since the eighth generation of consoles, said that developers’ dreams are often too ambitious to be executed at 60 frames per second, which forces players to choose between graphics modes that prioritize visual quality or performance.

The PS5 Pro, in this case, seeks to eliminate this decision, offering a more balanced gaming experience and closer to the quality mode we have seen in recent years.

Cerny pointed out that 75% of PS5 players prefer to optimize frame rates via performance moderather than prioritizing graphical fidelity. With a faster and more powerful GPU, the new console is designed to make this trade-off between performance and fidelity easier, if not completely eliminated. According to Cerny, the goal is to offer advanced graphics without compromising the smooth 60 FPS experience, a recurring demand among gamers and developers.

Therefore, Sony’s technical team wants to “provide gamers with the graphics that game makers aspire to, with the high frame rates that gamers typically prefer“. Cerny also highlighted that the updated hardware’s more powerful GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI-driven scaling will be standard in the future.

The PS5 Pro will be available for pre-order starting September 26, with a release date set for November 7. Gamers will have to wait a while to see how this new console lives up to expectations of next-gen graphics and flawless performance without compromise.
