Around 65% of young Brazilians aged between 9 and 17 used generative artificial intelligence to carry out at least one daily activity. This is what the TIC Kids Online Brasil 2025 survey shows, released today by Cetic.br and NIC.br. The study also shows that 92% of the population aged 9 to 17 are internet users in the country, which represents 24.5 million children and adolescents.
Children and teenagers turn to AI for school research, searching for information, creating content or talking about personal problems. In terms of age group, the use of this new technology was more common among people aged 15 to 17 than those aged 9 to 10.
The cell phone is the main technological device in the routine of children and adolescents: 74% use the device daily. Next comes television, with 35%. WhatsApp is the most accessed digital platform, followed by YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.


Access in schools and digital advertising
The survey recorded a drop in internet access in schools, which went from 51% in 2024 to 37% in 2025. Among those who access the network in schools, 12% reported using it several times a day and 13% once a week.
The study identified significant exposure to advertising content. Parents and guardians said that 45% of children and adolescents aged 9 to 17 had contact with advertising that was not appropriate for their age and 51% requested a product after online contact. This audience is aware of the topic: 65% of users aged 11 to 17 agreed that talking or researching products on the web increases the amount of advertisements received.
The most viewed video formats include people opening product packaging (66%), teaching how to use products (65%) and promoting gambling (53%).
Sources of information
The main sources of information for those responsible about safe use of the internet are children or adolescents themselves (50%), family and friends (48%), television, radio, newspapers or magazines (42%) and schools (41%). Around 37% look for websites dedicated to the topic, 36% use videos or online tutorials and 31% consult groups of parents on social networks.
The survey also revealed that 31% of children and adolescents help their guardians daily with internet activities.
Data collection for the survey released this Wednesday was carried out between March and September 2025, with face-to-face interviews with 2,370 children and adolescents, in addition to 2,370 parents or guardians.
