The situation continues to be tense and escalating to unpredictable levels: 256 GB DDR5 memory kit already costs the price of an RTX 5090 GPU!

For those who are out of the loop, a brief contextualization: the Chinese memory manufacturer Asgard recently made available two new DDR5 RAM memory kits aimed at the general public — a fact that, in itself, is no big deal.

The modules can now be found for sale at Chinese e-commerce platform JD.comalthough they are currently marked as unavailable, with no new stock expected.

Contextualizing the information abovewe highlight that the first kit announced is the limited edition Thorwith carbon fiber heatsink.

It offers a total capacity of 192 GB, distributed across four modules of 48 GB each. The memory operates at 6000 MT/s with latencies set to CL28-36-36-72.

The second kit is part of the Valkyrie linein a themed limited edition in orange. This version has 256 GB of capacity, using four 64GB modules. Its speed is also 6000 MT/s, with timings of CL32-45-45-90.

Both products use M-die memory chips manufactured by SK Hynix. Printed circuit boards (PCBs) have ten layers and are accompanied by a power management chip (PMIC) that allows voltage adjustment.

Or 256 GB kit also employs a 2mm thick heatsink and a special coating to improve temperature transfer, in addition to customizable RGB lighting.

The price of the 192GB Thor kit was fixed in ¥ 8.599 (~ R$ 6,612.53). In turn the kit Valkyrie the 256 GB was initially listed by ¥ 14.599 (around R$ 11,226.46), but was readjusted to ¥ 16.999totaling R$ 13,072.03 at the current exchange rate.
